There are so many reasons I chose this piece for the third blog. First I like the idea of the hand scrolls. It is not just a piece of art but becomes an experience and a story. If you block off sections of this piece and try to look at each section your imagination tells stories of mountains, fishing, and nature. Another thing I love about this piece is graphic style and line work. I love the style of this piece and I would hang this up in my house. Last I love the composition of this piece and its depth and lines. Some one else agrees though, because it has their stamp of approval in the top right corner.

I think you have captured all the thoughts surrounding why I love this piece. To say anything else would be redundant.
ReplyDeleteI love landscapes in general, which is why I too find this piece interesting. I really love the shading that went into each mountain, and how none of the mountains look alike. I'd love to own this piece, but I know that can never happen.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I like about this is the sheer size of the thing. I image the whole scroll must nearly a dozen feet long, which is impressively large. I also like that the artist was able to keep the same sense of scale and depth across the whole length of the scroll. I kinda wish I could do something like this.
ReplyDeleteI really like the depth of field this piece shows. It doesn't even look like it was drawn on. The only thing I don't really like is the dirty brown paper it was designed on. Although I think it adds to the natural feel, I think it detracts because I can't see the black ink as well as I could.
