I like this piece a lot for a couple of different reasons. First I like that it tells a story. I think its neat how it shows two legendary warriors not in battle, but playing a game of dice. After reading the article on this piece I noticed that that the numbers they are calling out are written vertically down across from their mouthes. I think that is clever but kind of funny. I like the contrast of the colors in this piece. Also there are some great textures in the painting on this piece.

The informality of these two gods has always made this a favorite of mine as well. If you look at the sculptures of Weary Herkules and of Hermes and the Infant Dionysos you will find other examples of those the Greeks saw as gods just hanging out doing everyday things.
